     Hi, I’m John Moore, pastor of Woodlawn Global Methodist Church. I am a lifelong Methodist & native of North Georgia. I grew up in Flowery Branch, GA and was a member at Piney Grove UMC.  It was there I received Christ as my Lord and Savior and it was there I helped in worship as a youth and eventually heard the call to preach.  I graduated from UGA in 1990 and went on to seminary at Emory University where I received my Master’s in Divinity (MDiv) in 1993.  I have been serving in the Church ever since.

 

     Included in our family picture below is my wife, Amy, my daughter, Sarah, and my son David.  Amy is currently teaching English at the Elberton campus of Athens Tech.  She and I have been married since 1994.  Our daughter graduated from UGA Engineering School in 2023 and is now living in Chattanooga where she works for Stantec.  Our son is a student at Piedmont College when he runs Cross Country and Track.  We have a bunny rabbit and a cat.  I have served as an elder in the United Methodist Church since 1993 and came to serve Woodlawn in February 2018.  On July 1, 2022, I transferred my ordination to the newly formed Global Methodist Church and have happily been serving the Woodlawn Global Methodist Church ever since.

 

     My wife and I love College Football but we root for different teams.  She grew up mainly in Florida and roots for Gator Football.  I root for the Bulldogs.  It makes for a difficult day watching one game a year, when GA and FL face one another.  We love spending time with family, watching movies, and going to Disney World and love worshipping together.
